Gruyère Alpage PDO – Swiss Alpine Cheese of Excellence

Gruyère Alpage PDO is a unique Swiss cheese, produced only in summer when cows graze freely on alpine pastures. The combination of raw milk, mountain herbs and traditional methods gives it a flavour full of depth and authenticity.

Origin & Production

This cheese is crafted in the alpine regions of Switzerland following PDO standards. The term “Alpage” designates its seasonal production: milk collected in high pastures, rich in wildflowers and alpine grasses, which impart distinctive aromas to the cheese.

Texture & Appearance

The paste is firm and dense, ivory to golden yellow in colour, with natural rind developed during maturation. With ageing, small crystals appear, giving a subtle crunch and highlighting its maturity.

Flavour Profile

Complex and elegant: nutty and fruity notes with floral and herbal undertones, sometimes hints of hay and earth. As it ages, the flavour becomes more robust, savoury and lingering.

Serving & Pairings

Excellent on cheese boards, grated over gratins or melted in fondue. Ideal with Jura white wines, Riesling, or light reds. Also pairs beautifully with apples, pears or nuts. Serve at room temperature to release its full aroma.
