Torralba Winery, wines from Menorca

Torralba Winery is located in Ciutadella de Menorca on an estate along the Camí de Macarella. Its winemaking project is closely connected to the Menorcan landscape and centres on the Alba range, including wines protected by the IGP Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca.

The estate and the Menorcan landscape

Torralba's vineyards share the estate with olive trees, Mediterranean woodland and Menorca's traditional dry-stone walls. The natural vegetation surrounding the plots provides protection from the influence of wind and sea salt.

The estate features the marès limestone characteristic of Menorca, together with other calcareous and stony soils. Grape varieties grown on the property include Malvasía, Monastrell and Garnacha, while Cabernet Sauvignon is also used in some of the winery's wines.

Minimal-intervention viticulture

Torralba describes its vineyard management as minimal-intervention viticulture. The vines are dry-farmed without irrigation, with part of the vineyard trained as bush vines. Vineyard work is carried out by hand and ground cover is maintained between the vines to support the natural balance of the soil.

The estate management also incorporates sheep grazing and the presence of bees within the agricultural environment. These practices form part of Torralba's approach to adapting vineyard cultivation to the natural conditions of Menorca.

Alba wines by Torralba

Alba is the wine range produced by Torralba Winery. It includes white, rosé and red wines, as well as varietal bottlings made with grapes such as Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaking and ageing methods vary according to each wine.

Torralba wines are part of a broader selection of wines and beverages and products from the Balearic Islands.

IGP Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca

Several Alba wines are protected by the IGP Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca, a geographical indication linking these wines to their origin on the island of Menorca.
